India captain MS Dhoni astonished the cricket world with his sudden retirement from Test cricket, the focus is gradually shifting towards the innovative skipper and how India would build a fresh start with Virat Kohli at the helm when final Test begins in Sydney on January 6.
With Dhoni opting to continue away from not only the cricket field but also off it as he didn’t be there the high-tea prepared on Sunday by the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott for both the teams, Kohli has been hogging all the limelight.
Dhoni’s departure strictly means he is no longer a part of the Test team, but he was invited on the other hand.
In his nonappearance, the spotlight was on Kohli, who created for camerapersons with his Australian counterpart Steven Smith and the Prime Minister and afterward in the captain’s photo-op.
Except even before Dhoni’s retirement, Kohli was the centre of concentration in Australia, but not because in the manner in he led in the first Test at Adelaide, but for his aggressive run-ins with the Aussie players in the last two Tests.
“Virat Kohli is a charming character. He is very destructive and looks to get under the opposition’s coat. At the same time, he also doesn’t mind when they chat back to him. In fact he flourishs on it and relishes when they sledge him,” said former Australian swift bowler Damien Fleming.
“I wouldn’t luge Kohli if I were bowling to him. He will  use it to fire himself up and use it next to you,”he added.
Kohli scored two centuries in the first Test at the Adelaide Oval, leading India to an almost unlikely succeed. The ex- Australian international believes that the new captain will be a step up on the one who exited the sight.
“Dhoni isn’t too volatile on the field and he doesn’t sledge. While there is hostility in the field, he is a very cheering power, which is fine. But he also let the game flow away and didn’t adapt rapidly in Test cricket.
“Kohli will be a hasty captain if not better and his batting personality will help him. He stands out of the fold, taking LBW out of the equation and It is a small example how Kohli is a thinking player and he evolves as the match progresses, which is how a skipper should be,” Fleming said.
Fleming said the truth that Kohli is rash, may be good for the game.
“Kohli is unlike from someone like Sachin Tendulkar or Adam Gilchrist, who had never reacted to anything anyone said to them.

Afridi said, he was a big supporter of Kohli's cricketing abilities but when the Indian need to pick up as a leader of the pack.
Kohli is set to guide the team in the final Test of the succession against Australia, opening January 6 in Sydney.
"I felt dissatisfied to hear about Dhoni's retirement decision because he is a fighting spirit and has been a great leader for Indian cricket. He has led many times from the frontage for them," he added.

"Dhoni has tainted the face of Indian cricket and took them to the pinnacle of success and his captaincy will be missed by the Indian team. He has led them fine in all layouts," Afridi told to a TV channel.
